On August 1st 2016, St Brendan's College will be renamed Woodbrook College. We are changing from being an all-boys secondary school in the Edmund Rice tradition to being a co-educational school. This move is marked by the completion of a state of the art new building and a positive development plan for our future.

The school has been awarded the Amber Flag, an award bestowed upon schools who have implemented a culture of positive mental health. Some of the initiatives involved included Thought of the Day, Fun Friday, Positive Mental Health Week, Sugar Week and Remembrance Garden, along with a coffee morning for parents. The Amber Flag has proven to be hugely popular with students and has opened the channels of communication raising key issues and strengthening the relationship between staff and students.

Transition Year
2016
Each academic year sees the Transition Year group take part in a trip to a foreign country. This year the group visited the City of London. It was the highlight of their school experience and will be fondly remembered for its action packed itinerary. The boys visited all the major sights such as Buckingham Palace, HMS Belfast, The Imperial War Museum, Trafalgar and Leicester Square for many a photo opportunity. Watford Football Academy had invited the boys to train with them and then treated us to a Premiership game against Stoke City which was hugely kind of them. We rounded off the trip with a visit to Thorpe Theme Park were water-slides, gravity-defying rides and a generally tip-top time was enjoyed by all involved. The boys wished to pass on all thanks to the London team of Mr. Fitzpatrick, Ms. Dwane and Mrs. Burke.
